Can one contractor handle solar panels and roof repair?

Yes. Blueprint Roofing & Solar coordinates solar panels and roof repair under one contractor so your roof condition, panel placement, penetrations, warranties, and project timeline work together. This is especially helpful when a roof needs repair or replacement before a new solar installation.

The Smart Way to Go Solar in Tucson

If you are considering both a new roof and solar panels, doing them together as a single project is the smartest decision you can make. Advantages of a Combined Installation

Streamlined Process

One company manages everything - roof inspection, material selection, installation, solar mounting, and system activation. No scheduling conflicts, no miscommunication between contractors.

No Future Solar Panel Removal Costs

Installing solar on a brand-new roof means you will not need to pay for costly solar panel removal and reinstallation when your roof eventually needs replacement. That alone can save $2,000-$5,000+ down the road.

Bundled Pricing

When you combine roofing and solar into a single project with Blueprint, you benefit from bundled pricing that is lower than hiring two separate companies. One mobilization, one crew, one cleanup.

Energy Savings & Home Value

A new roof with solar panels immediately boosts your home's value while slashing your monthly energy costs. Solar homes in Arizona sell faster and at higher prices than comparable homes without solar.

One Warranty Contact

If you ever have a warranty question about your roof or your solar system, you call one number. Blueprint stands behind both with our 15-year workmanship warranty plus manufacturer warranties on all materials.

Roofing and Solar Combo FAQ

Should I replace my roof before installing solar?
If your roof is near the end of its life, yes. Solar panels are designed to last for decades, and removing them later so the roof underneath can be replaced means paying to detach and reset the array on top of the roofing work. Installing solar on a new roof avoids that entirely. If your roof still has plenty of life left, we will tell you that during the inspection rather than sell you a roof you do not need.
How do I know if my roof can support solar panels?
We assess it during a single visit. That covers roof condition, orientation, shading, structural capacity and your household energy usage, so the roofing and solar sides of the project are designed against the same set of facts rather than two separate opinions.
What happens if my roof needs replacing after solar is already installed?
The array has to come off before the roof can be worked on, then be reinstalled afterwards. This is usually called solar panel removal and reinstallation, or detach and reset. Blueprint is licensed for both roofing and solar, so we can handle the whole sequence. It is still more cost-effective to replace an aging roof before the panels go on.
Is it cheaper to do roofing and solar at the same time?
Combining them into one project means one mobilization, one crew and one cleanup rather than two separate engagements, and Blueprint offers bundled pricing on combined projects. The larger saving is usually the one you avoid later: not having to pay to remove and reinstall the array when the roof is eventually replaced.
How long does a combined roof and solar project take?
The roof is completed first, then the solar team mounts the panels immediately afterwards, with no gap between the two crews. The system goes live once inspection and utility interconnection are complete. Total duration depends on roof size, roof type, system size and utility scheduling, so we give you a project-specific timeline with your estimate.
Do the roof and the solar need separate permits and inspections?
Roofing and solar are permitted and inspected separately, and the solar system also needs to be interconnected with your utility before it can be switched on. Because Blueprint holds licenses for both scopes, we coordinate the paperwork and scheduling for the whole project rather than leaving you to sequence it between two contractors.
How do the roofing and solar warranties work together?
Your installation is covered by Blueprint's 15-year workmanship warranty. Roofing materials carry their manufacturer's warranty, and the solar equipment carries its own manufacturer coverage. The practical benefit of bundling is that there is one company to call. A leak near a solar mount does not turn into a dispute between a roofer and a solar installer over whose work caused it.
Which roof types work best with solar in Tucson?
Tile, shingle and flat or foam roofs can all carry solar. What changes is the mounting approach and the flashing detail needed to keep the roof weathertight, which is why we choose roofing materials and panel placement together rather than treating them as separate decisions.
Who do I call if there is a leak around a solar mount?
Blueprint. That is the main reason to bundle the two scopes. When one company installs both the roof and the array, there is no question about which contractor is responsible and no delay while two companies work out who should attend.
Do I have to use the same company for both the roof and the solar?
No. Plenty of homeowners use separate contractors, and Blueprint can work alongside your existing roofer or solar installer. Doing both under one contractor mainly buys you coordinated scheduling and a single warranty contact, which matters most when something needs looking at years later.
